Colorado is one state, but it is far from singular when it comes to the diversity of its cultures and communities. Starting in May and continuing through September, CU President Todd Saliman and members of the CU Board of Regents joined the CU Outreach & Engagement staff, led by Assistant Vice President for Outreach and Engagement Tony Salazar, on outreach tours across Colorado.
Preliminary fall enrollment figures at the four CU campuses are slightly lower than those estimated in June, though student credit hours are relatively stable, the Board of Regents heard Friday during the second day of a two-day meeting at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. A report from Chad Marturano, vice president and chief financial officer for the CU system, showed a preliminary systemwide enrollment total of 66,074, compared with the 66,677 counted at the fall 2021 census.
A member of the Facilities Management team, Alan Slinkard is a projects specialist at CU Boulder. He also serves in leadership on the University of Colorado Staff Council (UCSC), the university-wide representative body for communicating the interests of staff to CU administration and the Board of Regents. After serving as parliamentarian of the governance group last year, Slinkard this year is co-chair.

Last weekend’s Denver Pride, fully in person for the first time since 2019, drew participants from across CU to help celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. This was the seventh consecutive year that CU proudly sponsored the festival.
The Board of Regents today approved a $5.52 billion budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year. The systemwide total reflects a 3.2% increase over CU’s budget for the current year. As presented at today’s board meeting, the budget includes a 3% across-the-board compensation increase for classified staff and a 3% merit pool for faculty and non-classified staff, and makes investments in institutional financial aid, deferred maintenance in facilities, campus budget initiatives and advancing the systemwide strategic plan.
