Nine University of Colorado faculty members today are being named Distinguished Professors, CU’s highest honor for faculty across the system’s four campuses. CU Distinguished Professors are tenured faculty members who demonstrate exemplary performance in research or creative work; a record of excellence in promoting learning and student attainment of knowledge and skills; and outstanding service to the profession, the university and its affiliates.
The Board of Regents on Friday began reviewing potential budget scenarios for the 2024-25 fiscal year, including possible increases in state funding, tuition and fees, and compensation. The University of Colorado Board of Regents has announced the 2024 list of individuals receiving Honorary Degrees, Distinguished Service Awards and University Medals. Upon the recommendation of the Regents Awards Selection Committee, the full Board of Regents in November approved the nominees. Each recipient has been invited to attend a campus commencement ceremony to accept an award; the dates and locations are to be announced.

Philosophy professor in the College of Arts and Sciences at CU Boulder, Alastair Norcross today will lead his first meeting as chair of the systemwide Faculty Council, the governance group comprising faculty representatives from the four campuses.
Last year, Mark VanDriel successfully ran for the CU Board of Regents in the state’s new 8th Congressional District. “I spent a lot of time talking to voters about the leadership role CU plays in higher education in our state, as well as the ways it uniquely serves all of Colorado,” he said.
