Innovators, entrepreneurs share inspiration at CU Showcase

Pioneering solutions with the potential to impact health, climate, education, technology and lifestyle, among other areas, were on full display at the inaugural CU Showcase – Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Impact: Celebrating Four Campuses. The Oct. 4 event at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus featured an expo of more than 35 CU innovators and their groundbreaking work; in-depth presentations from each campus; a panel about how innovation is shaping Colorado’s future; and smaller breakout discussions about quantum, AI, community resilience, aging, health care, workforce development and higher education, among other topics.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month and part of cybersecurity awareness is understanding how cybercrime connects with your daily life and work. “Cybercrime is not just a distant news story,” said David Capps, chief information security officer for the University of Colorado system. “It is a daily reality for the CU community and our information security teams are your partners in tackling this modern crime wave.” Everyone at CU can work together to prevent, detect and respond to a wide variety of attempted cybercrime.

CU sets new systemwide record with $1.7 billion in sponsored research funding and gifts

Faculty across the University of Colorado system this year attracted $1.7 billion in sponsored research funding and gifts supporting research, a new record total in CU history. In achieving the collective record, each of the four CU campuses also attained new records for sponsored research funding and gifts supporting research. The systemwide figure reached in the 2023-24 fiscal year is 7% higher than the previous year’s total. This marks the eighth consecutive year CU has topped the $1 billion mark.
