Reminder: Complete email survey to help shape CU’s next Strategic Plan
Faculty Council recently heard an update on the development of CU’s Strategic Plan 2.0, which will succeed the existing five-year Strategic Plan at the end of this academic year.
During its Nov. 20 meeting, held remotely, the council engaged in conversation with Strategic Planning Co-Chairs Lynn Vidler, provost at UCCS, and Chad Marturano, vice president and chief financial officer for the CU system.
“We are committed to hearing from faculty and partnering with you on this,” Marturano said. “This (Strategic Plan) will only be as good as the feedback we get from folks.”
He and Vidler encouraged faculty and all members of the CU community to respond to the email survey that was distributed Nov. 19. The survey asks all faculty, staff and students to voice their thoughts on the future direction of the university.
To take the survey:
- Use the unique URL sent to you via email, with the subject line “Share Your Voice on CU’s Future,” to respond. This link is unique to you and can’t be shared.
- Plan to spend just six minutes to complete.
As added encouragement to respond, the campus with the highest completion rate across faculty, staff and students will win a $1,000 donation to the campus food pantry.
“This survey is designed to gather perspectives on university priorities, performance and opportunities for improvement,” President Todd Saliman said in his email launching the effort. “The insights you provide will help shape our next Strategic Plan as we work to continue delivering for our community.”
As part of the Strategic Plan’s engagement and listening phase, Marturano and Vidler are attending governance group leadership meetings throughout the 2025-26 academic year. The conversations with faculty, staff and students will be essential in shaping a strategic direction that reflects the values and aspirations of the entire community.
Marturano noted that the next plan might replicate some elements of the current five-year plan, while others will be new.
“The duration of the plan might be different,” he said. “The world is very different than it was in 2021. So we’re being mindful of how we could think about components of this plan that are evergreen. … We (also) want to be nimble and able to course correct along the way.”
A draft plan is due to President Todd Saliman by June 2026. The final Strategic Plan 2.0 will be presented to the Board of Regents in summer 2026. CU’s inaugural 2021-26 Strategic Plan remains the university’s guiding document through June 2026.
