CU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Showcase part of Colorado Startup Week
Following its successful debut last year, CU’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Showcase returns Sept. 15 as part of Colorado Startup Week in downtown Denver. The shift helps signify the power of CU’s innovation engine, which continues to drive change and impact across the state and nation.
This year’s showcase includes Inspiration Hall, an expo with more than 60 innovators, entrepreneurs and industry leaders displaying and demonstrating their work; and a keynote session featuring world-class innovators sharing their experiences.
Speakers include Matt Ridenour, head of U.S. accelerator and startup ecosystems for Google; Thomas “Detour” Evans, a CU Denver alum and internationally recognized artist; Maithreyi Gopalakrishnan, a CU Boulder alum and founder of PrecisionTerra, a GPS-focused, deep-tech spinout; Rafael de la Vega, a UCCS alum and the co-founder and CEO of Salt Athletic, which created a patented, smell‑proof Cleat Bag; and Vik Bebarta, CU School of Medicine professor, decorated U.S. Air Force colonel and the founding director of CU’s Center for Combat Medicine and Battlefield Research.
The showcase is a product of the President’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative, an effort to leverage work happening systemwide in innovation and entrepreneurship, research, immersive education, and private and public collaborations, and to generate substantial real-world impact.
“CU’s longstanding leadership in innovation is marked by groundbreaking solutions and advances in health, climate, education, technology and lifestyle, among other areas affecting our daily lives,” said CU President Todd Saliman. “To be able to see so many of our remarkable community members together in one space at the showcase and experience their work firsthand reaffirms that the university is not merely preparing our students for the future, we’re shaping the future.”
