Three faculty members at the University of Colorado have joined the roster of President’s Teaching Scholars, those CU educators who skillfully integrate teaching and research at an exceptional level.
This month marks Bruce Benson’s 10th anniversary of becoming president of the University of Colorado, the institution where he earned his degree and which he long supported while working in business, philanthropy and civic leadership.
For Joe Jupille, 2017 was a year that brought significant honor and responsibility. An associate professor of political science at CU Boulder, he received the 2017 Teacher of the Year Award from the department. He also took on a new role as Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), serving as a liaison between the campus’s athletics programs and the faculty.
A mini-refrigerator sits under Danny Rankin’s desk at the ATLAS Institute, which in itself isn’t a novel idea. This little cooler, however, is special: It has been modified to be a vending machine that dispenses and delivers a canned beverage through a system of vacuum tubes that wind up through the ceiling and down to the desktop.
