Hines-Sloan

Marlinda Hines-Sloan, academic adviser at the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver, is the “Let Your Light Shine” Exempt Professional Assembly Employee of the Month for June 2012.

Hines-Sloan was nominated by co-worker Meredith Lopez, who described the award-winner as “always bright and cheerful” and someone who makes time to check in with everyone in the office and “really listens when colleagues want to share.” Hines-Sloan co-chairs the department’s diversity committee, “goes above and beyond the call of duty to listen to and assist” the graduate students she advises. She also advises new doctoral students. Outside the department, Hines-Sloan is an Auraria Campus Phoenix Center Volunteer, a founding Fayolo family representing The Boys School (a charter school within Denver Public Schools) and a volunteer at the 9Health Fair. She received a $100 gift card in recognition for her service.
