Senior Vice Chancellor Kelly Fox today has announced a series of changes to administrative leadership in the Office of Planning, Budget & Analysis, including an update on the university’s efforts to name a new Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget & Fiscal Planning.

Effective Sept. 1, Louise Vale will begin serving full time as Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget & Fiscal Planning. A search for the permanent AVC will begin later this fall. Vale previously served as Vice Chancellor for Administration before retiring in March, 2014.
Effective July 6, Carla Ho-a, who previously served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Administration Auxiliaries, has assumed the newly added role of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Budget and Fiscal Planning.
Effective August 5, Steve Vassallo has taken on the newly added role of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Integrated Planning & Decision Support.

With the announcement last September of the retirement of Steve McNally, the university launched a search for a new Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget & Fiscal Planning. While this search did not result in a finalist for that position, it did produce candidates with strong potential to lead the university in different capacities.

“When we conducted interviews with Steve (Vassallo), I could tell that there was a real opportunity for the university to benefit from Steve’s impressive background in Business Intelligence,” said Fox. “I am also extremely impressed with his approach to partnering across campus to help New York University (NYU) achieve its goals.”

Fox says she hopes that this new organizational structure will increase opportunities for collaboration.

“These new roles and new organizational structure will lead to greater unification and alignment within the budget office, and will produce a team of people who work together closely to address the university’s challenges,” says Fox.

Fox adds that she will take the next several months to evaluate this new organizational structure before initiating a new search for the Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget & Fiscal Planning role.
