2:00pm – 5:00pm
British Studies Room (Norlin M549), CU-Boulder

The English Department and Shakespeare 400: The First Folio at CU-Boulder are teaming up to throw a party for Shakespeare and for those of us who study, admire and enjoy the bounty of his literary genius!

Celebrate the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s life with a sonnet-writing competition, a sonnet-reading marathon, a display of student projects, and an exhibit of Shakespeare materials in Norlin’s Special Collections, as well as music, treats, and lots more!

Come and celebrate the Bard! Find out more below:

Sonnet-writing contest: Feel like channeling Shakespeare? Here’s your chance. Submit your award-winning sonnet in two different categories — traditional and interpretive verse. Details.
Sonnet-reading marathon: If you have a favorite sonnet that you’d like to read, come to the Celebration on April 8 at 2pm to sign up. Or, come when you can and jump in line! We’ll begin the reading at 2:15, with Sonnet 1, “From fairest creatures we desire increase,” and continue on through the sonnets. You must be present when we reach your sonnet in order to read it!

This celebration is co-hosted with Shakespeare 400: The First Folio at CU-Boulder.
