Updated at 10 a.m. March 12:

Because of the forecast of potentially hazardous weather conditions tomorrow, the Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture has been postponed until the fall.

The Chancellor's Distinguished Lecture Series is presented by the Damrauer Endowed Lectureship Fund.  All lectures are free and open to the public.

CU Denver is pleased to announce the March lecture will be given by Professor Richard Klein, PhD on Modern Human Origins.

Fossils and genes indicate that modern humans (Homo sapiens) arose in Africa between 200,000 and 50,000 years ago, when they abruptly spread to Eurasia.  They then quickly replaced or swamped the Neanderthals and other non-modern Eurasians.  Technological innovations that enhanced hunting and gathering provide the most economic explanation for modern human success.  Genetic change that enhanced cognitive and communicative potential probably underlay the technological innovations.

Join us for an evening with Dr. Richard Klein as we delve deeper into the history and origins of our species.  A reception will follow the lecture in the Student Commons Speer Gallery.
