OIT TechTalk #8 - UIS and Live Data

Wednesday, November 2, 2016
11:00am – 12:00pm
CU Boulder 3645 Marine Street

UIS's Jason Armbruster, Information Architect, will present his work on realtime data feed in this lunch and learn and CU Boulder. Problem: University core Administrative Systems supported by UIS contain a wealth of data that can drive significant value in applications supported outside of UIS. Requests for data to UIS tend to come in piecemeal creating limited possibilities for reuse without risking significant amounts of over-engineering. The growth in data driven decision making and near real-time processes is driving a change to the way we approach data integration in the future. API Architecture (LiveData): UIS has developed several reusable services over the last few years that may be of use to the campus community. Many of these were developed for a specific client, but designed with reuse in mind. This talk will cover a few of these services and also discuss upcoming initiatives as well as how the campus development community can help us set direction for future efforts. Jason Armbruster is the Enterprise Architect for the CU System working within UIS. Jason has been with the University in a variety of IT positions for over 20 years as a developer, server administrator, manager and Director. Currently Jason’s focus is on integrated systems across the University (integrated UI, authentication and session management, data, reporting/BI, etc.) and assisting with architecting the next generation of applications (and integrated SaaS) at CU.
